Management
David J Huxham is the founder and Managing Director of VAC Solar. He has a total of 8 years’ experience with Sasol Ltd, both at the factories in Sasolburg and Secunda. During this period he gained extensive knowledge relating to the Oil and Gas industry in specific, as well as ancillary and related plant in general. He also has 17 years’ experience in the sales & marketing of equipment in this field where he performed consultation work on various engineering projects, including the supply, installation and commissioning thereof.
Over the years David obtained his Olifantsfontein red seal in heavy current electrical engineering and became an Installation Electrician (IE) by also obtaining his wiremen’s licence. He also equipped himself to become an expert in the field of renewable energy by obtaining various PV certifications namely Victron Energy, Schneider Electric, Freedom Won, PV Green Card and Megarevo.
David is therefore a hands-on B-Tech Electrical Engineering graduate who has an intimate understanding of the South African business environment, supported by an MBA degree from North West University.
Charles Burrows is the Engineering Manager at VAC Solar. He has been working in the Solar PV industry for over 12 years, since 2012. He also has over 9 years of experience working in the electronic/electrical engineering sectors. During this time, he has gained experience with rooftop PV installations, Solar PV system design and engineering, as well as experience with solar PV system service and fault resolution. Charles has gained over 7 years of experience in Solar PV System design and engineering.
He has also been involved in and responsible for the facilitation and content creation of many Solar PV courses for numerous companies such as Microcare Solar Components, Segen Solar and Solis Inverters.
Charles was also responsible as the Senior Commercial Technical Engineering Advisor in pre-sales support. He gained experience in the verification of commercial grid-tied and storage PV plant designs and was responsible for ensuring these plants were correctly designed and sized for correct operation.
